The etiology of primary ovarian insufficiency (POI) is rapidly emerging, with new studies demonstrating the underlying genetic causes. Understanding these genetic underpinnings will help with diagnosis and treatment of women and girls with POI. The session will discuss up to date information about the genetic etiology of POI, how the clinician should use the information to improve the diagnosis and treatment of women with POI, with a special emphasis on girls presenting with primary amenorrhea.
