Type 2 Diabetes and its Remission Due to Strict Lifestyle. Does it Exist?

Session Description

Strict lifestyle interventions can improve glucose regulation in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. With data that intermittent energy restriction, periodic fasting studies, and other lifestyle modifications can reduce short-term need for diabetes medications, patients want to know whether these lifestyle interventions can result in long-term reversal of type 2 diabetes mellitus? Are there any data about whether lifestyle is better for disease modification than pharmacological treatments? We will discuss the differences between remission and reversal in the case of type 2 diabetes. This session will review recent evidence available for adults and adolescents.
