Session Description
Adrenal venous sampling (AVS) is a critical step in the diagnostic workup of primary aldosteronism, being the most reliable way to differentiate unilateral forms that are potentially curable by unilateral adrenalectomy, from bilateral forms that are preferentially treated medically (usually with mineralocorticoid receptor antagonists). However, the procedure is invasive and may be difficult to perform in inexperienced hands and expertise is required for correct interpretation of results. This session will focus on how to enhance rates of successful adrenal venous cannulation during AVS, optimize the quality of AVS data, and correctly interpret the results to ensure optimal patient management outcomes.
